At Progressive Dental we understand that dental emergencies can occur at any time.
For this reason we do keep emergency time aside in our day to accommodate for urgent treatment. All of our team will do their best to deal with your emergency as quickly as possible and make you comfortable. Dental Emergencies are usually either Root Canal Treatment or Extraction.
Root Canal Therapy
Endodontics or Root canal treatment is involved in the saving of an infected tooth. This treatment is designed to conserve a tooth that has been damaged by decay, fracture or an abscess and normal restorative procedures are no longer possible. Symptoms which can indicate a Root Canal is necessary:
- Sensitivity to cold or hot liquids or sweets
- Constant or intermittent tooth pain
- Severe throbbing tooth pain
- Tissue swelling of the face
If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, we recommend that visit us as soon as possible for treatment.
Extractions
At Progressive Dental we do not believe in extraction unless it is the absolute last resort. As an alternative to an extraction, the goal of root canal treatment is to save the tooth and help it to return to health. Even if you are suffering from severe decay, there are alternative treatment options available. Extraction can have serious repercussions such as misaligning and spreading teeth that can affect the look of your smile.
